What You Don’t Know About Feelings Home Study Course
A book about feelings, based on the latest neuroscience research and offering a new psychotherapy, provides the basis for this home study course (10 CE credits). Authored by Barry Bricklin, Ph.D.
This continuing education course is also available as a book.
Based on the research on feelings by famous neuroscientist Antonio Damasio, and the research on Approach-Avoid behaviors, the book offers a new psychotherapy, as well as a section on how feelings, good to bad, can be deliberately accessed not only to yield sustainable good feelings, but also to upgrade thought processes.
Specifically, feeling states can be purposefully accessed that do all of the following: increase motivation (the usual choice, or diminish it for dieting or drug-addiction purposes); enhance the number and variety of consciously available ideas; improve multiple-perspective thinking; heighten creativity; upgrade pattern recognition; create mental states that feature calm, unbiased, empathic attention, interest and curiosity---ideal for decision-making and mindfulness practices.
The therapy, is called Neuro-Experiential Therapy, (NET), to emphasize its foundation in neuroscience research, and the fact that its execution uses a client’s actually felt-experiences.
Several case histories are detailed, statistics are given about client outcomes over specified time-spans, and extensive notes and references are provided.
